Privacy Policy

Pathmaester (“we”, “us”) runs pathmaester.com, a workspace for finding jobs and scholarships, building CVs, writing application documents with AI, practising interviews and tracking applications. We are based in Nigeria and serve people worldwide. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us at support@pathmaester.com.

We only collect what we need to run Pathmaester:

• Account details: your name, email address, time zone, and your password (stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text).
• Things you create or upload: CVs and resume content, documents (such as cover letters, statements of purpose and essays), uploaded files, saved opportunities, applications, notes, reminders and your interest tags.
• AI features: what you send to our AI tools (for example CV text, job adverts, essay drafts, messages to the resume coach) and the results, plus transcripts and feedback from AI mock interviews.
• Payments: your plan, subscription status, amounts and payment dates. Card details are entered directly with our payment provider, Paystack; we never see or store your full card number.
• Telegram (optional): if you connect our Telegram bot, your Telegram user ID, username and display name, and the messages you send the bot.
• Usage and device data: pages visited, approximate location (country/city), browser and device type, collected through Google Analytics, and basic server logs for security and troubleshooting.
• Communications: feedback, support requests and emails you send us.

• To provide Pathmaester: your account, CV builder, documents, application tracker and opportunities board.
• To run the AI features you choose to use, such as matching your CV to a job, writing and checking documents, the resume coach and mock interviews.
• To send emails you need, such as account, password and payment emails, and the deadline reminders you have switched on.
• To send you jobs and scholarships that match your CV and interests, if you opted in (the box at sign-up or “Jobs picked for me” in Settings).
• To process subscriptions and payments, and to enforce plan limits and AI credits.
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
• To understand how Pathmaester is used and improve it, using aggregated analytics.

Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the service), your consent (job-match emails and optional features, which you can withdraw at any time), our legitimate interests (security, improving the product), and legal obligations (for example financial records).

Our AI features are powered by Google's Gemini models. When you use one, the content needed for that task (for example your CV and a job advert) is sent to Google for processing and the result is returned to us. CVs and other personal content are processed using our paid Google API service. Public job and scholarship adverts may also be processed through Google's free API tier.

AI output can be wrong or incomplete. Always review it before you use it. You decide whether to apply AI suggestions to your CV or documents.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run Pathmaester, under their own security and data terms:

• Neon (database hosting) and Netlify (website hosting).
• Google (Gemini AI processing; Google Analytics; Google Search Console).
• Paystack (payment processing).
• Namecheap Private Email (sending and receiving email).
• Telegram, only if you connect our bot.

Opportunities you submit to the public community board (for example through the Telegram bot) may be published after review. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.

Our providers may store or process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on our providers' contractual safeguards for these transfers.

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete an item or close your account, it is deactivated straight away: it disappears from Pathmaester and you can no longer sign in. Deactivated data is kept so mistakes can be reversed and so we can meet legal and financial record-keeping duties.

If you want your data permanently erased, email support@pathmaester.comfrom your account's address. We will erase it within 30 days, except for records the law requires us to keep (such as payment records).

• Essential: a secure session cookie that keeps you signed in. Pathmaester doesn't work without it.
• Preferences: remembers settings such as light or dark mode.
• Analytics: Google Analytics cookies that count visits and show which pages are useful. You can block these in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on.

Depending on where you live (including under Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 and the GDPR), you can:

• Access the data we hold about you, and download it from Settings → Your data.
• Correct it, in your profile and resumes, or by asking us.
• Delete it: use Settings → Delete account, or ask us to erase your data permanently.
• Withdraw consent: switch off “Jobs picked for me” or reminders in Settings → Notifications.
• Object to or restrict some processing, and ask for your data in a portable format.
• Complain to a data protection authority, such as the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or your local authority.

To use any of these rights, email support@pathmaester.com. We reply within 30 days.

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us straight away if you suspect your account has been misused.

Pathmaester is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16; if you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will remove the account.

We may update this policy as Pathmaester changes. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the app.
