International Crisis Group is offering an internship starting in January 2027 in Dakar to support project directors and analysts covering conflict analysis and advocacy in West Africa and the Sahel.

Requirements

• Recent undergraduate or graduate degree in international relations, political science, or related fields
• Good level in both verbal and written English and French
• Good knowledge of international and African politics, preferably West Africa/Sahel
• Authorization to undertake an internship in Senegal
• Must be participating in an academic or sponsored program (for credit or with external funding)

Responsibilities

• Monitor political and security-related developments across West Africa and the Sahel
• Write daily press roundups on covered countries
• Assist in drafting monthly situation reports and conflict data analysis
• Attend in-person and virtual events/meetings and take written notes
