Tailscale is hiring a Commercial Legal Counsel to lead day-to-day commercial legal support, partnering with Sales, Partnerships, Finance, Security, Product, and Operations to manage risk and scale contracting practices.

Requirements

• Law degree and active membership in at least one applicable bar
• Experience advising technology companies on commercial transactions
• Experience helping a legal function or business process scale in a high-growth environment
• Strong judgment and ability to distinguish material business risk
• Record of leading negotiations with sophisticated counterparties
• Clear communication and ability to build trust across teams
• Comfort working independently and prioritizing competing demands

Responsibilities

• Negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements
• Advise Sales and go-to-market teams on contracting strategy and risk
• Translate legal issues into clear options and recommendations
• Build and improve templates, playbooks, and intake processes
• Partner with Security, Privacy, Product, and Engineering on customer commitments
• Work with Finance and Revenue Operations on pricing and commercial matters
• Support international transactions and coordinate with outside counsel
• Identify patterns in negotiations to improve cycle time and consistency
